Net-cutting Ceremony – Feb 26th

Posted: February 23, 2011 in Uncategorized

Right after the game we will have the “net cutting” ceremony because our men have won the Gulf South Conference East Division!! The team will cut down one net and they have invited the Blue Crew to cut down the second net! We will let as many Blue Crew members get “pieces of the net” as we can! So please stick around after the game for this very special time!

Spare Change Drive Feb 5th game

Posted: February 5, 2011 in Uncategorized

Due to the generous support of Student Affairs and your SGA we will be taking a bus of current UAH students to the Gulf South Conference Basketball Tournament March 4th-6th in the Memphis Area!!!!

This weekend long trip will allow 56 UAH students to ride a charter bus, enjoy two nights in a hotel near Beale Street in Memphis, TN, and gain admittance to all of the tournament games at NO COST TO THEM! We do ask that students put down a $25.00 deposit to reserve their spot, which will be reimbursed to them upon bus departure. Bus sign ups will begin on February 5th at 4:30pm at Spragins Hall in advance of the basketball games! If the bus does not fill that evening we will also have a sign up table at February 7th’s game beginning at 5:00pm in advance of the Valdosta games. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR $25.00 DEPOSIT TO RESERVE YOUR SEAT!!!

The bus will be departing from Spragins Hall on Friday, March 4th, at 1:00pm. We do request that students check in between 12:00pm and 1:00pm so that we can depart promptly at 1:00 for the 4 hour ride to Southaven, MS (where the tournament takes place).

Friday (4th) evening, barring any complications with game scheduling, we will attend our first game, or games if the Lady Chargers are playing  (HOPE SO!!) when we can arrive. After the games that evening we will check into our hotel in the Downtown Memphis Medical District approximately 2 miles from Beale Street. Students can hop a downtown bus near the hotel to take you them to the Downtown/Beale Street areas that evening should they wish.

Assuming UAH wins our games on Friday, Students will  have the day to spend enjoying the Memphis area. They can get to most anywhere inexpensively by city buses.  They will then head back to watch the second basketball game at either 5:30pm or 7:30pm as rankings decide and return to the hotel where you are free to spend the evening however you please.

The CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, which we hope we will be at 2:45pm. We will return on Sunday, March 6th, hopefully around 9:00pm assuming we make it to the championship game.

You will be required to sigh a trip-specific liability waiver (standard procedure) before being returned your $25.00 deposit on the day of departure.

HUGE games Saturday & Monday!

Posted: February 4, 2011 in Uncategorized

We’re on a roll Charger Fans!! After outnumbering UNA students 5:1 in their own gym our goal is to PACK SPRAGINS HALL to CAPACITY this Saturday night & again on Monday in another two TOUGH Conference games! I am so very proud of all of you.

On Saturday Women play at 5pm, and Men play at 7pm. On Monday Women play at 5:30pm and 7:30pm.

Many big things will be happening for UAH students on Saturday evening including:

– First 200 students through the door (beginning at 5pm) wearing CHARGER BLUE will get a free hotdog/drink!

– Bring an old UA/Auburn/ High School shirt to “TRADE IN” for a brand new UAH True-Chargers shirt (while supplies last)!

– Blue UAH Hoops wristbands for all students!

– Brand new blue and white shakers for all students sitting in the lower student section!

ANDDDDDDD….. (drumroll please)

– SIGN UPS for the Gulf South Conference Tournament in Memphis (March 4th-6th). Bring $25.00 deposit to hold your spot, will be refunded to you upon your departure to the game making this weekend trip to Memphis to watch the Chargers dominate the GSC FREE to current UAH students!! You’ll want to be there early. No spots will be held without a $25.00 deposit. (special thanks to sponsors SGA, & Student Affairs)

On Monday night its time for our Greeks to match up to decide which organization has the largest % of Charger fans! During that game there will be:

– 6th man jersey/shirts when 3 pointers are made.

– Fun halftime game including a representative from each Greek organization!

– 1st annual Greek Night Trophy awarded to the Greek Organization that is able to get the largest % of their organization to the Monday night game
(check in at the blue crew table please)

And don’t forget to continue getting your Charger Rewards card punched so you can win SGA’s iPad at the  Feb 26th home game against UNA.

Can’t wait to fill up the stands with you! These are BIG games…. HUGE games. You may be the difference between a win and a loss.

PS. You must have a current UAH student id to gain admittance. The fliers that went out on cars will not be passes to get in. We need to make sure we are counting your attendance so we can continue to have the highest home attendance in the entire conference!

HIGH Student turn out at UNA

Student trip to GSC Tourney???

Posted: January 31, 2011 in Uncategorized

Blue Crew would like to see if we might have enough student interest to take a trip to the Gulf South Conference Tournament (if our teams make it) for the weekend of March 4-6th? Its possible both our women and men might make the Tourney which will take place in Southaven, MS (20 minutes south of Memphis).

Would you please take just a second, literally the whole survey will take you less than 1 minute to complete this online, anonymous survey, to see what interest level might be? You are not committing, we’re just looking to see if people are interested.

Also, students I just wanted to take a second to tell you how impressed I am with all of you and how thankful I am for all you do to support what we are trying to build here at UAHuntsville. You are setting a new precedent & blazing trails and I’m so amazed at how much YOU ALL have been able to accomplish in such a short period of time! You guys are GREAT and I just wanted to make sure you knew how very thankful I am for each and every one of you!

You can complete the survey (very quickly) by following THIS link:

Thanks in advance and GO CHARGERS!!
